To which extent the aims regarding employment market policies have been reached is not yet clearly detectable. Due to the lack of access to the employment market for asylum seekers, success will only show after approval of asylum.
However, on an individual level, great changes became apparent within the first report year: increased independence, less health problems, a more peaceful everyday life within the shared housing facilities as well as a gain in self-confidence. Throughout experience, employers supporting public service employment report great satisfaction with reliability and efficiency of the participants.
“Only if you understand the native language of the locals you will be able to feel like you are at home!”
“…First we were doubtfully, but the three men proved to be diligent, nice and already speak German well...”
“You can see that now they have obviously increased their self esteem.”
“One could note a decrease of health problems amongst the asylum seekers and within their habitations one could sense an increase of peace.”
“The self esteem of the women has obviously risen; one could watch how they feel more and more secure. They could get shopping done by themselves or go and see a doctor without guidance of an interpreter.”
"Through the FluEqual-Project the spoken communication has advanced a lot, but what is even more important, people carry out a meaningful occupation.”
“By means of the project for public service employment, in which the municipalities join in very well, the general level of integration has risen; contact avoidance and stereotypes of the locals have diminished."
“…the 9 municipalities in Oberpinzgau have spoken out their commendation for the asylum seekers, as they have made good experience…Based on our experience until this day we dare to say that this idea of integration is downright positive and very sustainable…”
