This innovative project for integration of asylum seekers in Austria has been performed 2005 - 2007, powered by the European Social Fund ESF and the ministry for Economy and Labour.

A long waiting period until the end of the asylum procedure. No occupation, and an isolated life in refugee housing. Barely any contact between Austrians and asylum seekers.
Nine organizations in the state of Salzburg have come together and started “FluEqual” – a project to improve the situation in towns with refugee housing. Together, they organized
- German language courses
- Internet project
- vocational training
- charitable employment of the refugees in local communities
- dialogue processes with locals
and improved the conditions for career opportunities for refugees after they have been granted asylum and created a model of integration for townships with refugee housing.
